Visit Auckland

The ASB Classic is not only one of the must-do events on the calendar of Aucklanders, but it’s also a major drawcard to tennis fans from around New Zealand and the world. And while there’s plenty of exciting on-court action throughout the tournament, as well as delicious food and beverages on offer and live entertainment, there’s also a huge array of things to do around Auckland outside of the tournament.

1. Hit the beach like Genie Bouchard

Visit Auckland’s West Coast rugged black sand beaches and discover a different kind of beautiful beach. Not only are there some great swimming spots, you can also learn to surf, and get inspired by dramatic landscapes that constantly attract filmmakers, writers and photographers.

2. See the sights like Fabio Fognini

Head up the Auckland Sky Tower and treat yourself to amazing 360-degree views of Auckland.  If you're feeling brave there are glass floors to stand on, to look down at the ground below your feet - a staggering 192 metre distance; and if you’re very adventurous take a leap with the SKY Jump!

3. Immerse yourself in culture like Amanda Anisimova

Visit Auckland Museum for a truly unique cultural experience. It’s a fascinating opportunity to learn the history of Auckland and New Zealand life, but it’s the Māori artefacts and the spine-tingling Māori cultural performances that can't be missed!

5. Enjoy a scenic run like Caroline Wozniacki

Strap on a pair of sneakers and go for a run around Auckland’s scenic Tamaki Drive. The route takes you past vibrant seafront suburbs, with bustling shops and cafes should you need to stop for a pick-me-up; but it’s the views across the bright blue ocean that really impresses!

6. Sail the harbour like John Isner

Head out on the water and enjoy a day of thrilling yachting action on the America’s Cup sailing experience. Take the helm, exert energy on the grinders or simply sit back and enjoy the racing experience on the beautiful Waitemata Harbour.

7. Experience Māori culture like Jelena Ostapenko

Experience the local Maori culture with a visit to Bastion Point, a place of significant importance for the people of Ngati Whatua, a hapu (sub-tribe) of the local iwi (Māori tribe) of Auckland. Their love for Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) spans generations, back to the time Māori first migrated to New Zealand and discovered the fertile land and harbours of the region.
